It was a great kickoff to Reading Month! We had so much fun watching the kids use their imaginations while building bobsled, talking about the Olympics during snack time, playing hockey and curling, and even enjoying a game of bingo. It was a wonderful way to start the month!

This year, the 3-6th grade classes are piloting a new Mustang Reading Achievement program. Each student has individual goals based on their district assessments and teacher input. We started four reading club levels to watch our kids achieve and have individual success earning Accelerated Reading points throughout the year.
Those students who met their goals for the first semester were treated with a pizza and bowling party in December. In May, the students will also have an opportunity to earn another large celebration for their next levels of success for their hard work second semester.
We know that in PK-3 students are learning to read. The shift happens in the upper elementary grades to reading to learn. The fundamental reading skills and reading habits that are instilled at home as well as in the lower elementary grades are essential to educational success as students expand their variety of reading fiction and non- fiction reading skills.
We hope the students will see this as a reminder of how important a growth mindset and that with hard work, they can achieve amazing new heights.

On Wednesday, March 11th, 2026, the Wishek Public School Board will be holding the Regular School Board Meeting at 6:00pm in the ITV room (Room 41) located on the Elementary side of the Wishek Public School.

Due to the weather there will be NO PEP RALLY today. The wrestling teams will be leaving for Fargo at 11:00am from Wishek. Instead of a pep rally we will do a parade of athletes through the school starting at 10:45. Parents/Fans are welcome to come to the school and join the parade.
Attached is information for Wishek Elementary Wrestling. Please check the schedule online as some changes have been made. Practice will start on Monday, February 23. Transportation is provided to some, but not all of the tournaments listed. Make sure to look over the comments for transportation details and times.

Wishek speech team competed in the St. Mary's speech tournament February 14th. Braelynn Wenger competed in radio and poetry, Kennedy Mulske competed in EPR and humerous interp, and Paison Becker competed in poetry
